This project in Piatt Place in Downtown Pittsburgh was a complete renovation from top to bottom. Archetype partnered with KBC Pittsburgh to create an expansive contemporary space in an urban setting. This project was the 1st place winner of Pittsburgh Magazine's 2016 Home of the Year in the new build category. A major focal point in the unit was the custom designed asymmetrical water feature in the main living space. The variety of materials selected provides interest along with the sound of water which creates a relaxing oasis. Another design feature is the custom framed upholstered bed wall in the Master Bedroom to provide a nice backdrop for the low profile bed. The challenge in the Guest Bedroom was that it was an interior space and had no windows or any access to natural light. This made the space very dark and uninviting. We cleverly created two back lit faux windows and treated them with shades and drapery panels to pull off the full effect. A dark room no longer. The back lit windows give the illusion of actual windows and totally changes the feel in the space.
